I mean people do something for you and you got to appreciate it.
A girl lost her phone in her classroom then asked someone to help her by calling it. Her response is “Sorry I have a boyfriend.” Kinda sad, isn’t it?
Well, it is just a fictional story based on a 9gag meme. But, the same kind of “no appreciation” stories happened in everyone’s life. Like when you do your work and your manager just “meh!” it. Or when you bought present for your son, but he just not interested in it.
If someone works for you and the result is under the expectation, do you have to appreciate it? Well, I am not talking about that in here. It happened when you do not have the same expectation. And back again to the expectation, many factors needed to be considered like capability of giving and the same knowledge of expectation put on the expected gift/result.
What I am talking about is appreciating one’s extra efforts to the job given to him. For instance your job is A, B, C. But then there is an exception occurred and you got to do D. You can do D, but it is not your job. You are doing it instead because you know, for the department’s goodness sake. Task D is finished and you report to your leader. He just say, “Okay”. Don’t you feel like, WTF?!
At this point, I would like to emphasize that the same thing do not happen to me right now. I am doing well and no problem happened. This post is only based on recent posts I found in the social media.
What would happened if your leader say, “Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it. It really helped our division.” Well, Loyalty +3 in your stat as in simulation games. For real, those words mean a lot psychologically to you, right? Those kind of small appreciation can help a lot. Me, personally, really respect my old boss for how he appreciate my work. Not by giving me some money or treating me in a well known bar. No. Only using those words.
Well, yes, we know a term of “Thank you project.” That term is given to those request people asked you to do, though they can do it. Those people deserve a special place in hell.
Appreciation is not limited to that. Anything that you received should be appreciated. Thanking the giver is one way to do it. Another way may be taking care of the given thing. Appreciation can be found in every thing. From simple food served to you to big sum of gold as quest reward.
Learning to appreciate is hard, yes I know, especially when we expect high. Learning to appreciate should be started from small thing. When you sweep your room, be thankful for you may still have a personal place to sleep at night. Like what Jesus said in Like 16:10, “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.”
Learn to appreciate, big or small. Some people put an extra effort to make it happened for you!
