the Streets – Urban Life in Metromini Jakarta

Such a long time no press! Yeah, I was busy preparing for my job, doing tasks, etc. So my current position now is in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. I am using public transport as my main transportation.

So I was in metromini one night. A red and dirty bus. Quite big, but still it always be crowded. People were not paying attention to each other. Just mind their own business. But not for me. I looked on every corner trying to find things that interest me.

There was a young and attractive lady that was not so confident of herself. She kept checking her phone and doing not quite an activity. What was she actually do was looking for an escape route from anyone so that she wont have to talk with anyone. That is the indicator which people prefer to stop interaction and waste their time than start a very nice conversation.

There was also a kind man, but he looks not so kind. Well, it was only his look. He helped the driver to collect fees. At first, an old woman thought that he is a pickpocket. Well, his look is really bad! The fact is we people sometimes judge other person from their look.

There was also a singer with his guitar singing a Christian song in the bus. I tried to talk to him and later on I know that he is a moslem. Well, what a surprise I must say! He sing it well! Then he said something that I think means so much and really needed in my country, “We people may hold our religion, but it must not force anyone to follow our religion.” Wowing indeed!

In the end, if we look on others, it will just like we’re looking at a big mirror showing our self with a big question. Who are you in the community? How do you interact?

First Trip Abroad

Hello all! I’ve return from my long sleep of blogging. So, yesterday, I was just beginning my journey to another country. As fact this time it is not a real journey, but it will be a journey. Del got me assigned in Thailand for Job Training, so I must begin my journey now. Here it is at the first glance.

As fact, traveling abroad is not so hard if your country is “good” and you fill the right form. Well, I arrived at LCC Terminal in Kuala Lumpur. The officers there were not so kind to us, Indonesian, because our country had some problems lately. But when I arrived in Chiang Mai International Airport, I was surprised! The officers were so kind and helping. Really, smile is the most important for them. The first impression really helps.

Then about the food. This is one of the most important thing that exist in the Earth. So, in Malay, I could find almost anything, anything in Indonesian context, because our type of stomach is rather same. But in Thailand, wow! I can find more than anything. My apartment is close to a local market, so I can buy vegetables, fruits, even meat there! Everything in a cheaper price.

Well, the first experience is the most valuable one and my first experience is interesting because I met so much different things in one trip. What will happen in the next two months of my stay in Thailand? We’ll see. 🙂

Beautiful Landscape, Tea, Lake, and Birds

What a nature can give to us? Many things, from what we can see to what we can only feel. A feeling that one can rarely taste when they are stick with their agenda. The feeling that we can feel only in certain conditions.

Well, for example, in Toba, a big tectonic lake in Indonesia, we can find such feeling. Toba gave us a clean view of mountains and beautiful lake. Sound of water that soften our mind. Birds that keep singing their song. Winds that flowing soft through our ear.

Such feeling that I prefer to enjoy with a cup of tea, lifts up a lot of burden from me. I can think clearly, my life seems better, and most important is that I can free my imagination by inhaling fresh air.

Well, this feeling is rare for me although I studied next to Toba Lake itself. Agenda, tasks to be done, deadlines, things that makes me stress. I can be free now, enjoy my solitude for a while and think clearly. A peaceful feeling that everyone must have to move forward.

PS.

Pastinya aku bakalan balik lagi ke sini! Emang bukan petualangan, tapi tempatnya menarik untuk dikunjungi

Outbound PI Del 25 June 2011

Today is amazing. Started with a bad mood and bad wake up call, ended with a great thing. There is no kind of promoting one instance here or make one instance famous, but I will just tell my experience. Please let me do it.

Yesterday, we have been told that there will be such outbound travel to all students of PI Del. Destination unknown, but still in Tobasa, North Sumatera, Indonesia. Approximately at 8 am we travel there. The journey cost 105 minutes more or less. And the transportation is so rare out here. So, you’ll have to order a car and travel there. The most terrible thing is that I got no signal for. My operator, 3, there so that I can’t tell you where it is exactly.

There you will find a hotel, a small one but with fancy facilities. For example, there is a karaoke room and also it is close to some tourism area there like waterfall, and it is standing next to the Toba Lake. The room costs IDR 172000 with karaoke facility and meal. I just got that from the brochure. Well, it is a real low price for a good hotel I think. Oh, I forget, the name of the hotel is Sentosa.

Back to topic. At first we make groups and make our own signature. Also, we make a karaoke match. One group choose three songs to sing and then they sing and dance to get points. Out from the karaoke room, one can go to balcony to get a really fresh air and nice view.

Then we continue and do the “invisible” volleyball match. One team won’t see their opponent. It maked the match more interesting. The next match is to make a shape using trashes, garbages, dumps there. So we just clean the lake and make the symbol of PI del.

After building that, we went swimming and took a bath. Well, I said there is a great thing is going to happend. It is true. My group, our group, named Luchay wins the game and we got a prize. For everyone in the group have a free charge to stay.

It is a great thing indeed. We win our games and we deserve it. What I want to say is just do your best in every single part of life. You may come to an event where you face a bad day. But if you dare to face it, the prize is good enough.

One more thing. I don’t know that my parents were looking for me the whole day even my bro at Amsterdam is called to ask where I am. As fact I had no signal, not just gone like that.
